Thiruchendur, is a tiny but beautiful coastal town located in the Thoothukudi district in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Famous for its temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, Thiruchendar is a popular pilgrim destination located in the Gulf of Mannar. Thiruchendur is predominantly a temple town which houses beautiful temples, such as the Thiruchendur Murugan Temple, Valli’s Cave or Dattatreya’s Cave. Besides the temples, other attractions include the Panchalankurichi Fort, Melaputhukudi, Kudhirai Mozhitheri, Tuticorin and Vanathirupathi, Punnai Nagar.
- Thiruchendur Murugan Temple: Thiruchendur Murugan Kovil is the prime attraction of Thiruchendur. Thiruchendur Murugan Kovil is one among the aaru padai veedu of Lord Muruga, the others being Thiruparamkundram, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruthani and Pazhamudhircholai.
- Valli's Cave: Valli's Cave or Dattatreya's Cave is one of main attractions offered by Thiruchendur. Valli's Cave is situated on the sea shore towards the northern part of Thiruchendur Murugan Kovil, below the sandstone cliff, overlooking the sea.
- Melaputhukudi: Melaputhukudi Ayyanar temple is a popular destination of tourists visiting Thiruchendur. Melaputhukudi village is a quaint hamlet situated about 10 km away from Thiruchendur.
